If you are interested in reducing your festival entry fees by "bartering" your time for discounted registration, please complete the barter form in its entirety. NOTE: You need to have read the Barter section of the FAQ page before completing this form. We expect you to know what you're signing up for.

Upon acceptance of your Barter Agreement, you will be provided with a special Barter Registration link.
General Barters includes: Administrative Assistant, Feast Prep, Herald, Hospitality, Maintenance, and Setup/Tear Down. Barter pricing is based on shift number signed up for and scheduled prior to festival start with one shift scheduled paying $65, two shifts scheduled paying $45, and 3+ scheduled shifts paying $25. All barters must be prepaid. General Barter shifts usually run 4-6 hours or equivalent work tasks/responsibilities.
Safety barters (First Aid, Security Overnight, Security Daytime (Gate), & Fire Tenders) may have longer hours depending on department needs and are full barters.
Drumming Barters are full barters with prior authorization and experience or Midian reference.
We will need to know your expected availability and attendance dates.
NOTE: Certain barters require a specific/minimum arrival or departure date/time, due to their nature (eg, set-up and tear-down barters must be on site early on Wednesday and stay until Sunday afternoon).
NOTE: Each Section Coordinator will report missed work shifts for barters under their supervision. Please understand that we rely on your efforts for the festival to run smoothly. If you miss a shift, do not fulfill your barter obligations, or incur other infractions, you may be subject to expulsion from the festival, a suspension of future barter opportunities, and in some cases, banning from any and all future Babalon Rising, LLC sponsored events.
Barter Descriptions
General Barters General Barters are valued support personnel that help get the festival up and running, moving forward, and closing up. These roles include: Administrative Assistant, Feast Prep, Herald, Hospitality, Maintenance, and Setup/Tear Down (this is a physically demanding role). General Barter pricing is based on shift number signed up for and scheduled prior to festival start with one shift scheduled paying $65, two shifts scheduled paying $45, and 3+ scheduled shifts paying $25. All barters must be prepaid. General Barter shifts usually run 4-6 hours or equivalent work tasks/responsibilities. Administrative Assistant - this role provides support for the leadership team. Responsibilities may include delivering messages, running errands, making town runs, filling water bottles, picking up meals, verifying the status and condition of various areas, etc.
Feast Prep - this role provides support for the Feast Coordinator. Responsibilities may include food handling and prep, such as chopping, slicing, dicing, setting up serving trays, town runs, wiping down tables, dish washing, post-feast clean-up, and disposal of leftovers. The bulk of this work takes place on Saturday, but there may be some errands and prep to be done throughout the week.
Herald - make announcements throughout the day for the schedule, activities, and informational updates, certain announcements are scheduled, some needs may be on-call.
Hospitality - this role provides secondary support as an information & communication hub, supply collection and distribution, hydration station, and miscellaneous support for staff, presenters, performers, and attendees.
Maintenance - this role supports the health and welfare of the festival. Responsibilities include largely center around maintaining the portapoties: refilling supplies of toilet paper, wipes, hand sanitizer, and trash bags, cleaning/sanitizing interior, reporting issues in functionality and damage, and may include additional responsibilities such as making town runs and assisting in other miscellaneous festival tasks such as supporting Set-Up/Tear Down..
Set-up/Tear Down - this role is responsible for helping to set up/tear down and maintain the physical structures of the festival and may have secondary responsibilities with miscellaneous festival needs, including supporting Maintenance needs. This role is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift and carry 50lbs+.
Safety Barters: Security (overnight), Security (day time, previously gate barter), First Aid, Fire Tender These are full barters that often work overnight and blue shifts and are mandatory sober shifts. You are essential workers that get full entry into the festival!
Overnight Security - these volunteers are responsible for the safety and security of our attendees from 9p-9a, with typical shifts running from 9p-3a, 3a-9a or 9p-1a, 1a-5a, 5a-9a. Responsibilities include running overnight gate registration, patrolling grounds & parking, responding to incidents, filing incident reports, providing escort, situational de-escalation, and coordinating & assisting in emergency situations.
Day Time Security (Gate) - these volunteers are responsible for being our first point of contact for attendees and handle gate registration, manage basic first aid supplies, information & communications hub, and coordinating & assisting in emergency situations.
First Aid - these volunteers are responsible for providing risk/threat assessment of our attendees and providing basic first aid services and emergency services under "Good Samaritan Laws" in cases of extreme, life-threatening emergencies, and may need to engage with 911 and first responders.
Fire Tenders - these volunteers are responsible for assisting in the creation, maintenance, and safety of our nightly fires, as well as, monitoring the culture of the fire area, handling primary de-escalation, and contacting the appropriate Staff member to handle various attendee needs and situations.
Drumming Barters: (primarily overnight) must have proven drumming skills & experience OR Midian/BR reference; must be available for 3-5 hours each night for bonfire drumming; must be pre-approved by the Drumming Coordinator, prior to the beginning of the event. Please apply for the barter, even if you aren't sure that you will be able to attend and just keep us updated on your status. This is a full barter position.
